My Skin

I have very dry skin and have severe eczema. I also have a history of acne with lots of scarring and hyperpigmentation across my face. In terms of colouring, I’m really pale (ghostly) with yellow undertones.

So I’ll admit, foundations have a lot to contend with when I try them out!

Colour

I choose Light 43 which is the palest shade with yellow undertones. Here’s what the foundation looks like straight out the bottle and then blended in:

I was actually really impressed by the shade and the range available. I often struggle to find a shade that is pale enough for me without being really pink but this gets two thumbs up!

Coverage

This foundation claims to be full coverage and its been advertised that it can cover tattoos etc. This foundation did a pretty good job of covering up, however, even 3 layers were not enough to completely disguise my acne scarring. I would give the coverage about an 8/10.

Texture

The foundation claims to be a matte finish and so this was always going to be a struggle for my very dry skin. Even when I exfoliate thoroughly, moisturise, prime etc. the foundation didn’t go on smoothing and separated on my skin. One thing to note is that it dries really quickly so I recommend doing your face in sections so that you have a change to blend everything in before it dries.

My solution was to mix a pump of foundation with a drop of my Rosehip seed oil which gave a much better texture for my dry skin and look pretty flawless. The only downside is that this compromises on the coverage a bit as you’re sheering out the foundation and so multiple layers and then additional concealer is need to cover my scarring.

Applying this foundation anywhere near my eyes resulted in cracking and caking and I looked like a mess so definitely something I would avoid. Most products will crease on my under eyes though so this may not be the case with everyone.

Lasting power

Claim: “24 hour wear, transfer resistant”

Reality: On a really good skin day the foundation (on it’s own, without oil) might look nice on application but by the six hour mark it will be a mess. In terms of “transfer resistant” I actually didn’t have any issues with it transferring and, although by the end of the day it will be cakey and emphasising my dry patches, the foundation physically stays on my face the whole day. So I would definitely agree that this is a long wearing foundation.

Overall

Its not a bad foundation overall and if you’re looking for a longwearing foundation with good (not amazing) coverage then I would defo give this a go. If you have dry skin then you’ll have to play around with it a figure out how best to use it. It’s still useable but it takes quite a lot of work to make it look good. The foundation has a strong scent so if that’s something that bothers you then you might want to steer clear (personally I didn’t mind it and stopped noticing it quite quickly)
